Getting rejects and rework under control

June 19, 2026

Why quality issues slip through

Rework is a cost most manufacturers never see in full. A reject that isn't captured properly can't teach you anything.

In most businesses, quality issues get logged in different places, by different people, in different ways. That makes it hard to see patterns, spot repeat problems, or show a customer that an issue has been fixed.

On 17 June 2026, Paul Reardon and Joe Durrant ran a webinar on handling all of this inside Tricorn QMS.

What the session covered

Capturing issues properly
QMS covers four types of issue: rejects, complaints, concessions and NCRs. For each one you record the detail, the reason, the action to take and how to stop it happening again.

Linking issues to the job
Every issue links back to the works order or purchase it relates to, so you can trace a problem to its source.

Follow-up that happens
Assign an owner to each issue, and QMS prompts them when follow-up action is due.

Reject rates at a glance
Dashboard reports show NCR and reject percentages, so you can spot trends before they cost you a customer.

Part 2: procedures, audits and calibration

On 15 July 2026, Joe Durrant followed up with a second session on the day-to-day setup that turns QMS into a working quality system:

  • creating procedures, linked to your documentation, with a clear trail of active and superseded versions
  • building an audit schedule to check procedures are followed and calibration is kept up to date
  • managing machine maintenance and calibration schedules, with alerts for due and overdue events
  • using the dashboards that show what needs attention

Whether you work to ISO 9001:2015, AS9100 or your own internal standards, both sessions will help you get more from QMS.
